Congratulations to our newly qualified NCT Practitioners, who celebrated their amazing success at graduation recently.
It was a wonderful day of celebration, and a great opportunity to hear the students’ stories about their time studying with us, especially through the pandemic. We wish them every success as they embark on their first courses with parents. Here are some of their stories.
“Graduating with a CertHE in NCT Perinatal Education and Practice has been an exciting achievement for me, and one that until almost two years ago I never imagined would be possible,” says Claire Shervington.
“Despite my eagerness to learn I have always struggled a little academically, so it was not an easy decision to make applying to study alongside bringing up a young family, but it is by far one of the best decisions I have ever made.
“I have met some amazing people both tutors and fellow students and I have proved to myself that if you want something and you are prepared to work hard it is possible.
“Studying with NCT requires a lot of self-reflection and as a result you learn a lot about yourself. But even if this is challenging there is a network of support available to help you work through those challenges and use them to develop your future practice.
“With the training available from NCT I feel privileged to have the opportunity to support new families as they transition into parenthood and beyond.”
Simone Sciberras is continuing her studies with a view to support families through birth and beyond.
Simone says: “I returned to university for the second time after a 10-year gap and worked exceptionally hard to juggle a full-time job and my studies.
“I’ve always had a passion for working with families and children and I look forward to qualifying as a doula, baby massage instructor, pregnancy yoga teacher, as well as Mum & Baby yoga teacher next year.
“I’ve enjoyed returning to university and working and training with NCT. I’ve found all the tutors to be supportive, they have helped me to challenge myself to grow and develop as a person. I have met some truly inspiring people and I’m excited to continue my journey with NCT and working with the team for years to come.”
‘Beginning the course in the peak of the pandemic has been a very different student experience than I had anticipated,” Becky Dufton told us.
“Topped off with a cancer diagnosis in my second year, I wasn’t sure what this would mean for my studies. I did not need to worry though, as the support I have felt throughout from the academic team, my tutor and my cohort has been incredible.
“I am not the same person I was at the beginning of this course, the nurturing and encouraging environment has enabled me to push myself beyond where I thought possible.
“I can move forward feeling proud of my achievements and extremely grateful for the people I have met along the way.’
