We recently celebrated Volunteers’ Week and we wanted to thank all the wonderful people who give up their time, energy and resources to help us and others
Volunteers’ Week was all about recognising the great work our volunteers do, from organising Nearly New Sales, to running sling libraries, or from helping at Bumps and Babies groups to offering breastfeeding peer support.
Whether you have a few hours spare each week or each month, you can take on as much or as little as you like.
Our CEO, Nick Wilkie, said: ‘I’m amazed continually every time I go out and about across the country… I’m in awe of how much everybody contributes!’
Many people don’t realise that NCT branches and activities are run solely by volunteers. There are a variety of roles available, from Branch Coordinator to Nearly New Sale coordinator.
Our volunteers often tell us they’ve had a real confidence boost, stepped outside of their comfort zone, overcome big challenges and learnt a multitude of new skills. They also say they’ve had lots of fun and made lifelong friends at the same time.
All of this is while helping and supporting people at their time of need, which is rewarding in itself.
Volunteers’ Week was all about giving ourselves and each other a pat on the back for all our hard work and it was a great success.
Robert Wormington, Project Support Officer from the Volunteering team, said: ‘During Volunteers’ Week you helped build a strong sense of community and have shown each other that you are valued and appreciated.’
‘You have done yourselves proud and are a credit to your branches, regions and NCT nationally. Thank you.’
