Taking part in the London Marathon is a lifelong goal for many runners, and this year six amazing runners are representing #TeamNCT in this iconic race whilst raising vital funds to support parents.
Running for a charity can be a great way to stay motivated during those long training sessions, as well as making a real difference.
Two of our #TeamNCT runners this year are Andrew and Karen. They are a mother and son team, who are running together in green NCT vests in recognition of the support Andrew and his wife received through NCT antenatal classes when they had their daughter.
Training for the marathon can also be great fun; Amy from Widnes has taken part in a variety of running events as part of her preparation, including running in fancy dress!
Amy is running to raise awareness of the support NCT provides. “As a parent myself, with my first baby, I relied on NCT for a lot of the information I needed to help me with my newborn.
“NCT also gave me links to local parents, enabling chats and reassurances during those long sleepless nights and giving me confidence.”
All of our runners are raising vital funds to help NCT deliver more local activities to support parents in their communities as well as continue to fund services such as our Infant Feeding Support Line.
You can lend your support to our runners by donating to our Marathon Just Giving page, and by cheering for them on Sunday 2 October!
Places to run the London Marathon can be hard to bag, and with the ballot opening soon for April 2023’s race we will soon be welcoming a new team of runners. If you are up for the challenge and are lucky enough to receive a place in October’s ballot we would love to have you on our team! If you miss out on the ballot, watch this space for details of how to apply for one of our limited charity places in a few weeks’ time.
