Thanks to the efforts of a small volunteer team, a new parent support group is going from strength to strength in central Leicester. Read more about it and find out how you can go along.
A new meet up for mums and dads in Leicester is being provided thanks to volunteers from NCT.
The free Parent and Baby Meet Up sessions are opportunities for new parents to chat, make friends and get tips from others in the same situation. A qualified postnatal practitioner is also on hand for further support each week and a breastfeeding counsellor will attend once a month.
The Parent and Baby Meet Up launched on 10 March, running every term time on Tuesdays from 10am-12pm at John Lewis Café in the Highcross Shopping Centre. All parents and their babies and toddlers are welcome.
We’re thrilled that our fundraising efforts can provide a safe space
The sessions are running thanks to the efforts of a group of local volunteers who fundraised by holding the first local NCT Family Festival last September.
Caitlin Teague, NCT Practitioner, Leicester NCT branch, said: “We wanted to respond to NCT research that identified a gap in the postnatal support available for parents in the first weeks and months.
“We’re thrilled that our fundraising efforts can provide a safe space for new parents to talk and develop their support networks.”
The Leicester NCT branch also offers a range of services and activities for local parents including Baby First Aid courses and Nearly New Sales.
