We know new mums will still have questions and worries about feeding. Find out about the online breastfeeding support we’re continuing providing if you need it
Did you know that there is loads of online feeding support if you need it? Many Baby Cafes continue to provide mothers with professional infant feeding support using methods like Zoom, WhatsApp or telephone.
Providing new mums with a vital source of quality information and support on breastfeeding, formula feeding and introducing solids, these online Baby Cafes are helping to boost confidence and ease worries during this time of uncertainty.
We run four popular Baby Cafés on behalf of the Hounslow Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). Following the coronavirus outbreak, we have worked closely with Hounslow CCG staff and local health visiting and midwifery teams to ensure that local NCT Breastfeeding Counsellors, Liz Lambourn and Geraldine Chew, are still able to support mums via telephone and online video chats.
One mum told us: “It’s really encouraging in this lockdown time to know that I can have an expert to speak to if needed”.
NCT branch run and funded Beckenham and Penge Baby Cafes, facilitated by local NCT Breastfeeding Counsellor Kate Cameron, are also using Zoom to maintain local infant feeding support. Kate has taken full advantage of current technology and is able to offer mums 1:1 support using a zoom virtual ‘breakout room’, while other mums continue to chat with each other along with a volunteer.
The sessions have been well received with up to six mums attending a session. Many of those who have been supported have kindly made a donation to maintain this valuable Baby Café service in the future.
If you need support on breastfeeding, formula feeding or weaning, we’re still here for you in many ways:
