Birth and Beyond Community Supporters in Birmingham will work in partnership with Foodbank to support local families
This month, Birth and Beyond Community Supporters in Birmingham will be supporting women at a local Bumps and Babies group in Kings Norton, alongside the B30 Foodbank.
Our Birth and Beyond Community Supporter (BBCS) programme is a national project to train mums as volunteers to help other mums in their community, through pregnancy and in the early days of parenthood. It aims to help them feel less isolated and access local services.
BBCS volunteers will be able to refer families that they support to the Foodbank as well as being at the drop-in to offer support and introduce them to the BBCS project.
Poppy Davies, Service Delivery Manager for Birmingham, says: ‘We are really excited about being asked to be part of this service. Families attending food banks often feel isolated and find it difficult to access groups. We have volunteers who can go along with them to groups, chat to the mums and tell them about other services in the area.’
