Find out how you can help us drive forward our plans to become an open, inclusive and diverse charity that supports all parents.

This week, we will be inviting nominations from you, our members, to fill two vacant trustee roles. We’re asking for your help to take positive action to increase the diversity on our Board of Trustees
We are looking for candidates from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds who can bring skills, experience, energy and enthusiasm to our social mission.
We’ll be opening the expression of interest process this week and announcing our new Trustees at our AGM in December. Watch out for an email from us this week to find out more!
We will also be encouraging members living in Northern Ireland to consider standing for election so the Board has representation across all the four nations of the UK.
The pandemic has brought into sharp focus the inequalities that exist in maternal outcomes.
In May, UKOSS reported that 55% of pregnant women admitted to hospital with COVID19 were from a black, Asian or minority ethnic background.
This adds to the evidence from MBRRACE-UK that black women are five times as likely to die during childbirth compared to white women, Asian women twice as likely and mixed-race women three times as likely.
This is a social injustice that we are determined to change by taking positive action.
We are well placed to drive change through our own services and support, and through our influencing work.
There is clearly much more to do to address persistent inequalities in outcomes.
We have a proud heritage of driving positive change for women and new parents, but there is clearly much more to do to address persistent inequalities in outcomes.
If we are going to be part of the solution in addressing this wider challenge, we need to ensure that our own house is in order. Individuals from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds are under-represented across our NCT communities and the parents we support. In response, our Leadership Team has been developing a deliverable action plan to improve, update and embed an approach to equality, diversity and inclusion throughout our work and practices.
As part of this, we are looking to build Board capacity in terms of skills and lived experience. Help us take positive action to enhance diversity on our board of trustees.
