Pip Lawrence, a TFL tube worker, was recently awarded for being a hero to pregnant women travelling on the tube. One mum said: “If he sees a pregnant woman, he walks into the carriage and says ‘pregnant lady. Someone give her a seat’ – and everyone gets up.”
Pip’s ‘above and beyond’ attitude even sparked a social media trend – #BeLikePip.
Quite rightly, Pip’s chivalry has been recognised and he was presented with a gold award from TFL as part of their ‘Make a Difference’ scheme.
Pip’s generosity knows no bounds, as he has kindly donated the financial award he was given to NCT.
He wrote us a letter saying: “I wanted you to know that I will be giving the amount to NCT, which is noted as a leading charity offering information and support in pregnancy and early parenthood. I am just so happy that I am appreciated by so many of you and this, in itself, is reward enough for me, it just means the world to me.”
We thank Pip for his thoughtful donation to NCT but more importantly, we thank him for the care and compassion he shows pregnant women – and other passengers – travelling on the underground.
