NCT Sutton Coldfield, NCT Beckenham and Borders and NCT Royston and Villages have had fantastic news, which will enable them to increase the infant feeding support they’re able to give parents. Find out more.
At NCT we are committed to supporting parents in those early weeks and months, and we understand one of the major challenges new parents face is getting support to feed their baby.
NCT Baby Café is a free drop-in, run by an NCT Breastfeeding Counsellor which supports parents to feed their baby. We have 30 nationally and they are run by local volunteers alongside an NCT Breastfeeding Counsellor.
NCT Sutton Coldfield launched their new Baby Café this month after receiving a National Lottery grant, which also paid for them to train seven Breastfeeding Peer Supporters who will now go on to volunteer at branch events. Congratulations, NCT Sutton Coldfield!
NCT Beckenham and Borders and NCT Royston and Villages (pictured) are about to embark on training a cohort of Breastfeeding Peer Supporters.
They will attend their local Baby Café supporting parents by offering an understanding ear. They will complete 20 hours of training and continue to be fully supported with ongoing training for as long as they wish to volunteer.
If peer support interests you, why not get in touch with your local branch to see what they offer. If they don’t current have an NCT Baby Café they may appreciate your support in fundraising or applying for a grant to set one up or to train some Breastfeeding Peer Supporters. We wouldn’t be able to support parents locally without our incredible volunteers.
