BABIES Winchester were delighted to receive a £200 donation from a local business to aid them with their NCT breastfeeding support drop-in. Find out more.
As part of their 20th anniversary celebrations, Catalyze have made several donations to local charities and good causes. A member of their team nominated BABIES, run by Jennie Gavin and a team of NCT Breastfeeding Counsellors. BABIES was nominated by the husband of a mum helped by Jennie to feed two early babies.
Jennie, who has been an NCT Breastfeeding Counsellor for over 25 years, has also been invited with her colleague Jane Moffett to a celebration event hosted by Catalyze, which after the past 18 months is a very exciting prospect to them both!
The news of the donation came on the day the drop-in went back to face to face. “Being back up and running in person is so exciting, our session today was attended by 11 mums all with little ones under 6 weeks,” Jennie said.
NCT runs breastfeeding drop-ins all over the UK. They are run by highly qualified Breastfeeding Counsellors who provide support to parents in those early weeks. As one mum puts it: “It’s a life-line for mothers, as breastfeeding doesn’t always come easily…you can get advice in so many ways but none compares to that of a trained professional.”
We’re committed to providing free breastfeeding support to families that need it, so donations like this are hugely appreciated to keep the service running. Do you work for an organisation who supports local community initiatives? Please consider your local NCT branch if you do.
