NCT has signed an open letter to the Government, demanding an end to the Cost of Living Crisis. Last week we helped deliver it to HM Treasury. Find out more.
We’ve all been affected by the Cost of Living crisis, which has seen the price of food, rent and other standard living costs rise.
We’ve signed an open letter written by charities and organisations under the umbrella Together Through This Crisis, demanding the government take action to stop this every day struggle becoming commonplace.
Parents are having to choose between buying nappies or food
The letter begins: “In Britain in 2023, parents are having to choose between buying nappies or food, between new school shoes or a winter coat; pensioners are going cold and skipping meals; disabled people are struggling to heat their homes or run vital medical equipment; and a quarter of us are kept up at night worrying about keeping the room over our heads.
“Don’t let this become the new normal.”
Last week, NCT’s Senior Policy Advisor Elizabeth Duff and Marketing and Communications Officer Anahied Luria, helped deliver the letter to HM Treasury. They were joined by co-signatories from other organisations and charities, including Save the Children, Shelter, Little Village and 38 Degrees.
Please join us in signing the open letter, and demanding that the government find a solution to help struggling families across the UK. To sign, click here.
We run Nearly New Sales, which are a great way of buying good-quality, pre-loved basics for your baby at an affordable price. See if there’s one near you.
Rather than paying for expensive attractions or trips, you can also get out and about by dropping into a group for parents and babies, run by NCT volunteers. These are either free or ask for a small donation. See what fun activities are on in your area.
We also provide a free to call Infant Feeding Line, where you can discuss any worries or concerns you have about feeding your baby. The line is open every day from 8am to midnight on 0300 330 0700.
