This month we marked Time to Talk day. Read about how our Parents in Mind projects across the UK help new parents have a conversation about their mental health.
When you’re a new parent, it can be difficult to find time to talk to another adult at all, let alone discuss your mental health.
If you’re a new parent struggling with your mental health or looking for someone to talk to, it might be useful to know that we run Parents in Mind in the North West, in Newham, Coventry & Warwickshire and most recently in East Sussex.
The projects offer emotional support to parents who are experiencing low mood, anxiety and poor mental health during pregnancy and up to when their child is two years old, by providing a safe space to talk with support from a trained volunteer.
These volunteer peer supporters have previously experienced similar mental health struggles and are able to understand what the parents are going through.
Some of our Parents in Mind projects also support fathers and co-parents of mums struggling with their wellbeing. In the North West, Pete and Ian run Parents in Mind Partners, with regular Walk & Talks for partners and co-parents, as well as signposting to local resources.
