February is LGBT+ history month, raising awareness of the LGBT+ community and the people who help shape its’ rich and vibrant culture.
LBGT+ History Month has been celebrated every February in the UK since 2005. It marks the abolition in November 2003 of Section 28 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, which prevented schools talking about and normalising homosexuality – Scotland had removed it three years earlier.
Our course leaders were welcoming to everyone
At NCT, all our courses are open and inclusive of all parents. They are run by practitioners who are trained to meet each parent as an individual and support them with their unique needs.
We’re grateful to our parents who give feedback on our courses, and wanted to share this comment from Sian in Bristol.
“As a same sex couple we were nervous about attending a ‘traditional’ antenatal course, but all our concerns were completely unfounded.
“Our course leaders were welcoming to everyone and encouraged individual opinion, feedback and discussion at all times.
“For us the most valuable part of the course was the opportunity to learn and reflect together as a couple. Taking time out of a busy schedule to focus on our baby felt incredible.”
