Find out how you can fight maternity discrimination through the #Givemesix campaign.
The number of mums who lose their jobs for getting pregnant has almost doubled in 10 years. Far from improving, the situation has drastically deteriorated and significant numbers of women are being affected.
Pregnant Then Screwed has launched the #GiveMeSix campaign. Please sign the petition to help get the time limit extended to enable more women to get justice.
Pregnancy and maternity discrimination is illegal, yet less than 1% of victims pursue a Tribunal claim.
Pregnant Then Screwed, an organisation that protects, supports and promotes the rights of mothers who experience discrimination, conducted a survey to understand why so few women access justice. The survey found that 30% of respondents said the time limit had prevented them from doing so.
Joeli Brearley, founder of Pregnant Then Screwed, says: “Three months simply isn’t long enough. For many pregnant women and new mums, they already have enough on their plate and some don’t even realise they are being pushed out until it is too late.”
For those that realise they are the victims of discrimination, the idea of bringing a case at a time when they are vulnerable and exhausted is just too overwhelming.
That’s why Pregnant The Screwed has launched the #GiveMeSix campaign and a petition to help get the time limit extended to enable more women to seek justice.
