NCT’s Diamond Jubilee: A year of sparkling celebrations

We look back over a fantastic year of NCT branch Jubilee celebrations.

Over the last 12 months, NCT branches have been celebrating our 60th year with Diamond Jubilee Tea parties across the country. There were 45 parties in total which raised a staggering £14,300 for parent support activities.

Bringing parents together

Not only were the Jubilee parties fundraisers, they also brought local parents together and connected NCT members – past and present.

Every branch did something different. Clapham hosted a Halloween themed party (pictured) while Sheffield and Rotherham included a range of activities at theirs.

‘At our 60th Jubilee celebration event, we enjoyed singing, dancing, yoga, and tucking into delicious cake. It was a great success and we are very proud to be turning 60!” said Angela Bairstow, NCT Sheffield and Rotherham branch’s newsletter editor.

Back in the summer, we visited Staines, Ashford & Egham NCT branch and filmed all the fun at their Jubilee Tea Party. There was lots of cake and activities for all the family. Watch the video to see more and find out about NCT’s history and how branches and volunteers make such a difference to local parents.

Get involved in 2017

Money raised from every Jubilee party will help local NCT branches set up or support activities or services for local parents, such as baby bundles projects, breastfeeding drop-ins or sling libraries.

If you made it to a party this year, we hope you had a wonderful time. And if you didn’t, find out what’s happening at your local branch in the coming months. It’s a great way to meet other parents.
